Dear friends and supporters,

I’m excited to announce my candidacy to run for City Council.

I want to thank my family, friends and community leaders for encouraging me to run. It’s a tremendous opportunity and one that I take very seriously.

Redwood City is a great community. Having served on the Planning Commission for the last 4 years and in the last year as Chairman, I can attest to the involvement of Redwood City’s residents, they are passionate about making sure Redwood City continues to provide families great places to live, play and work, as well as a place for businesses to thrive and continue to set up shop here.

As a candidate for city council, I want to focus my expertise to make sure we continue to create jobs and grow additional opportunities for the business community. Of course though, it’s our residents, our families, that are the lifeblood of our community.

I am privileged to call so many people I’ve encountered through my time on the planning commission and volunteering at numerous city events, my friends and neighbors. So, it’s when I see my friends and neighbors I’m reminded that our number one goal is to ensure the safety of each of one our residents. Redwood City’s police, firefighters and first responders are second to none. I will continue to protect the interests of these departments to make sure our community remains safe by ensuring they have the tools and the technology to get the job done.

Ensuring our community is family and business-friendly does not mean to spend carelessly. Too many times cities throughout California have wrestled with out-of-control spending, which has caused financial duress for those cities and it’s residents. I take a great deal of pride having volunteered my time for a city commission. Because of my time on the planning commission, it has afforded me an innate understanding of how Redwood City operates. I will make sure we continue on a financially prudent path.

I look forward to the upcoming campaign. It will be filled with great debates and forums where each candidate will get to express their views on the future for the city. I look forward to those discussions.

So take a look around my Web site, “like” my Facebook page or shoot me an email. I’m happy to talk to you about where we are and where I think we should be heading.

Warmest Regards

Ernie
