A letter from the candidate
San Mateo County is facing some of the greatest challenges in our history.
We have the challenge of rebuilding our local economy, bringing back jobs and restoring fiscal sanity in government.
We have the challenges of ensuring affordable housing, safeguarding needed county social services and ensuring critical resources for our public safety departments.
We have the challenge of preserving the unique character of our cities and towns, protecting our environment and a quality of life that has made San Mateo County the premier Bay Area location to live and work.
But I have always believed that challenges are simply opportunities in another form. Throughout this campaign, we’ll be talking to you about these challenges and how we turn them into opportunities to improve our economy, balance our county budget and improve our quality of life.
Throughout this race, I will be talking to voters everyday and bringing that message to every city and town in San Mateo County.
So, here is what my pledge is to you:
As your District 4 Supervisor, I pledge to ensure that our county government is efficient and effective for the citizens and businesses that it serves. Like many counties in the Bay Area, government agencies are forced to do more with less in an era of shrinking tax revenues and tightening budgets. As Supervisor, I will introduce measures that streamline the process of government by improving customer service and updating technology across county departments. I know we can work together to find budget solutions that serve our county in good times and sustain us in tough times.
As your District 4 Supervisor, I pledge to make San Mateo County a model of long-term economic sustainability. Throughout this campaign, we are meeting with small business owners and Fortune 500 company leaders alike to find new ways to serve our economic and job creation engine. From day one as your Supervisor, I will utilize my experience in the private sector and make it job number one to rebuild our local economy and promote San Mateo County as the premier place to do business in California.
As your District 4 Supervisor, I pledge to make improving quality of life a top priority in San Mateo County. As a Redwood City Planning Commissioner, I will use my knowledge to pursue a plan of smart growth throughout our county. I will work with elected officials, community leaders and business owners alike to solve our housing problems, foster healthy communities and create a balance between development and open space in San Mateo County.
But none of these problems can be solved without your help. And that’s why my campaign wants to hear from you!
On this website, we have a blog that provides you the opportunity to get involved in the discussion. This blog will give you a chance to discuss issues or concerns that matter to you, your family, your friends and neighbors.
Whether you want to sound off on an issue, ask a question or just talk about what’s happening in your city, town or neighborhood, our campaign wants to hear from you.
After all, as YOUR District 4 Supervisor, my job is to be your voice in county government… let me know what you want to say.
Sincerely,
Ernesto “Ernie” Schmidt
